This course demystifies fretting behind the slide, making it an approachable technique that any slide player can utilize to enhance their playing.
We'll start with some guidance on preliminary topics like guitar setup, slide choice, finger choice and hand positioning.
Next, we'll learn the basic fundamentals of fretting behind the slide in a series of easy, step-by-step exercises.
From there, we'll dive into soloing. You'll learn to use this technique in musical ways, starting with simple licks and gradually building up your skills until you're tackling advanced ideas like fretting with multiple fingers behind the slide, using arpeggios, chromatic passing tones, and more.
Finally, we'll take a look at some of the unique and expressive ways you can utilize fretting behind the slide for chordal playing, and set you on a path to continue developing your skills on your own beyond this course.
If you've taken my Standard Tuning Slide Course, then you're ready for this course. This one pretty much picks up right where we left off in the previous course!
IMPORTANT INFO
This course is NOT recommended for beginners; especially new slide players
This is an Intermediate to Advanced-level course. You don't have to be great at slide to take this course, but to get the most out of it you should at least have a decent grasp on the fundamentals of "regular" slide playing. This course only covers fundamental technique concepts that directly pertain to fretting behind the slide.
**If you are brand new to playing slide, then I'd highly recommend you click here to take a look at my Standard Tuning Slide Course, which does accommodate guitarists of all skill levels, and covers the most basic fundamentals of slide guitar.**
This course is entirely taught in Standard Tuning
I debated long and hard on whether to include Open Tunings in the course, but ultimately decided against it. I have much more experience using fretting behind the slide in Standard, and therefore can provide a more informed, higher-quality course by sticking to what I know. That being said, even if you're primarily an Open Tuning slide player, you still absolutely CAN benefit from this course, because all of the technique concepts we cover WILL apply to any tuning. It'll just be up to you to transfer these techniques to the scale/chord shapes of your desired tunings.
The course includes:
🎸6 hours worth of easy-to-follow video lessons
🎸PDF downloads that include tabs, fretboard diagrams, and other materials
🎸Guitar Pro Files (*note - Guitar Pro software is not required to take this course)
🎸5 custom-made backing tracks for you to jam with and practice the skills you've learned in the course
