An approachable introduction to classic blues slide guitar
Over 4 hours of thorough, easy-to-follow video lessons
If you've always wanted to play slide in Open E tuning but don't know where to start, this is the course for you.
Whether your end goal is to play rootsy delta blues slide like Blind Willie Johnson/Robert Johnson, stinging Elmore James/Hound Dog Taylor-style Chicago blues slide, innovative blues-rock slide a la Duane Allman/Derek Trucks, all of the above, or anywhere in-between, this course has you covered.
Mind you, the "Crash Course" in the title means we won't delve into any of those specific styles in great detail. Rather, the goal of this course is to introduce you to the fundamental techniques and fretboard navigation methods that are common across all of the aforementioned sub-genres of blues slide guitar in Open E (and by extension, Open D) tuning.
By taking this course you're setting yourself up with a solid, "general blues" slide foundation that you can then build upon on your own after completing the course, honing in on the specific slide styles that you're most interested in. Or, if this course is as far as you take your slide playing, you'll still gain the knowledge and skills to bring authentic blues slide guitar to any musical situation you'll find yourself in.
Basically, the lessons in this course are detailed and thorough technique-wise, but broad when it comes to genre/style.
Who is this course for?
The Open E Slide Guitar Crash Course is mainly geared towards beginner slide players, from "brand new, never touched a slide" to "can play some stuff on slide, but need guidance." The lessons have everything you need to go from "square one" to playing real slide phrases and solos on multiple areas of the neck.
That said, this course can also be useful for those of you who already have a fair amount of experience playing slide, but in tunings other than Open E. If you're more of a Standard tuning or Open G/A slide player and want to learn how to get around Open E, then this course has you covered as well.
Regardless of your current skill level on slide, when it comes to your overall ability on guitar in general, this course is suitable for all skill levels except for absolute brand-new beginner guitarists. If you can play your basic pentatonic scales, cowboy chords, and barre chords, then you're good to go!
